The Mid Night Club was Japan’s most infamous racing group that took over the streets from 1985-1999. There was only about 30 confirmed members total, but all remained anonymous to the media and outsiders.
The Mid Night Club was extremely secretive and highly selective when it came to initiating members. Divers must be highly skilled, drive and maintain a car that was capable of going 160mph and go through the yearlong apprentice process. The apprentice process requires legible drivers to attend every single event, race, and meeting for the entire year before becoming a formal member. Only 10% of apprentices became formal members of the club.

Once an apprentice was officially a member, they were given the official Mid Night decal that would be placed at the top of their front windshield. One crucial rule that all Mid Night members must adhere to is to never pose danger to pedestrians or other drivers. If there was any sign of recklessness, the diverted would be required to remove their Mid Night sticker immediately. Also, members could not reveal too much personal information regarding their job or personal life to anyone inside or outside of the club.

The Mid Night Club officially disbanded in 1999 due to deadly crash involving a group of Bosozoku bikers. There were a reported 8 injuries and 1 death. Immediately after this incident all the Mid Night Club’s cars were destroyed or hidden by members.
